The largest Canadian educational network Maple Bear, which set foot in Sofia 5 years ago with a kindergarten and a school, is expanding its presence in Bulgaria thanks to Bulgarian entrepreneurs and business leaders. The new school opens its doors this September in the Plovdiv village of Markovo, in a specially designed building.
Among the investors who supported the creation of Maple Bear Plovdiv are the administrative director of the school Kostadin Bodukov – a teacher, entrepreneur and successful manager, the investor Miroslav Samuilov, as well as Biser Ivanov, Stamen Kochkov and Krum Hadzhigeorgiev – successful entrepreneurs in the technology sector, part of the management of the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM).
„The most meaningful area in which Bulgarian business can invest efforts and resources today is education. In a world where machines are getting smarter, it’s vital that the people who run them keep up. The Maple Bear methodology gives exactly this foundation to the next generation of professionals, from an early age – with a focus on critical, independent thinking, functional literacy and building skills for the future. By supporting such projects, we do not sponsor schools, but invest in the future of Bulgarian business “, commented Kostadin Bodukov.
Already in more than 40 countries around the world, Maple Bear Global Schools is introducing the Canadian education system according to a new generation bilingual model – with the development of the child at the center of the learning process. Canada is always in the first positions of English-speaking countries in the PISA ranking, which assesses how children apply what they learn in school in real life.
Children can now apply to Maple Bear Plovdiv for preschool for 5-year-olds, preschool for 6-year-olds, and first grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Until the end of January, the fees are preferential.
The Maple Bear approach and program are combined with the Bulgarian curriculum approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, which ensures that students acquire national knowledge, but also acquire skills that will be useful to them around the world.
All the advantages of the Canadian education system, which position it in a leading position in the PISA ranking, will be presented by Justin O’Grady, Director of Curriculum at Maple Bear Global Schools. She arrives in Bulgaria for a special seminar for parents, which will be held on January 31 at 11 a.m. at DoubleTree by Hilton Plovdiv in Plovdiv.
